Melville Intermediate - Maori Mihi Format

A Maori Mihi is a greeting or introduction that is typically spoken when people meet.  Our students would be most likely to recite their Mihi when they were staying on a Marae or meeting someone for the first time.  All students of Melville Intermediate School need to learn and be able to recite from memory.  This is Jamie's example.

  1. Hi Jamie,

We like this. It is good to have a sense of where you belong.

  2. Tino Pai Jamie!

I will show your mihi to my class in the morning! They will enjoy learning about what a mihi is and hopefully they'll get to learn to say their own too!

  3. Hi Mr Webb and Room 5,

Thanks for your comment on our blog. Have any of you entered and/or won any competitions? We all think we are very lucky to have our new stationery and it is proving very useful in our learning!

Your slideshow is great - we are currently gathering information from our families so we can do our own mihi. We might have to copy your idea of doing them on a slideshow too!

Keep up the great work, Room 5 and Mr Webb.
